Amidst the pandemic, post-secondary students across Canada are enduring a fall 2020 semester like no other. Institutions are grappling with online learning as a way to continue to operate at this time and almost all in-person elements of attending a college or university are on hold. The results are imperfect works-in-progress, but educators are endeavouring to support their students as best they can.

Morning Brief: Why Ottawa needs to stay quiet
Good Thursday morning,
— Groundhog Day: The results of the U.S. presidential election are still unclear, putting allies like Canada in an uncomfortable spot — and it’s not the first time this has happened. Last time, in 2000, it took a month before the race between George W. Bush and Al Gore was decided, a period throughout which then-PM Jean Chrétien stayed as quiet as possible. Former Chrétien advisers say Trudeau should do the same.
Biden pushes closer to victory in race for the White House
Democrat Joe Biden was pushing closer to the 270 Electoral College votes needed to carry the White House, securing victories in the “blue wall” battlegrounds of Wisconsin and Michigan and narrowing President Donald Trump’s path.
The Agonizing Uncertainty of the US Election
In 1930, the US military finalized War Plan Red, which laid out what would happen were America to find itself at war with the United Kingdom. Canada was still under British dominion at the time, and the plan, updated as recently as 1935, mapped out an invasion of its northern neighbour. The plan recommended that America steam into major cities like Halifax, Montreal, and Toronto in order to ensure the quick collapse of Canada—code name Crimson. “Crimson cannot successfully defend her territory against the United States,” the 1935 war plan concluded.
All Of The Rebel’s Ongoing Lawsuits Against The Media
Ezra Levant’s first lawsuit against the media came in 1993, when, while a student at the University of Calgary, he took the campus paper to court over a letter it printed about him. The case, which included future MP Rob Anders as a co-plaintiff, was eventually settled without costs.
In the following years, the conservative pundit turned “commander” of far-right Rebel Media would continue to avail himself of the courts to correct what he saw as injuries to his reputation. But few of these suits were against actual media outlets, and he would just as often find himself on the other side of such claims.
Trudeau Remains Silent on Trump Casting Doubt on Election Results
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ignored a question asking if he was worried about the outcome of the still undecided U.S. election.
As the votes continue to be counted south of the border, Trudeau gave a prepared response to the media waiting outside of Parliament Wednesday morning.
“As everyone knows, there is an electoral process underway in the United States,” he said. “We, of course, are following it carefully and we’ll continue to as the day and the days unfold.”

What do we lose when the caribou disappear?
One caribou herd in Jasper National Park is gone. The two remaining are on the brink. Regrettably, the story is not particularly new; almost every caribou herd in Canada has been assessed as being at risk of extinction, and too little is being done to save them.
Last year in British Columbia, two caribou herds -- the South Selkirk and South Purcell -- died out. Caribou along Lake Superior's north shore are clinging to survival, dislocated from their relatives further north by extensive habitat fragmentation that requires aggressive restoration.
The Trump Campaign Is Openly Trying to Steal the Election
In an effort to stop officials from counting numerous votes cast in the crucial battleground state of Pennsylvania, the Trump campaign appears to have gone all-in on a brazen plan: try to sow chaos and get the courts to throw out as many remaining mail-in ballots as possible, which are likely to heavily favor Joe Biden.
