Premier Doug Ford's controversial "stay home" law, which he says requires people to be either at home or at work except for an "essential" reason, is now in effect in Ontario.

However, a background note from the Ford government says there's no definition for what is "essential" because everyone has their own unique circumstances and regional considerations. Premier Doug Ford has urged people to use their "best judgment" in deciding whether to go out.

The order sets fines and allows police to ticket people not in compliance.
