 Groundhog Day: The results of the U.S. presidential election are still unclear, putting allies like Canada in an uncomfortable spot — and it’s not the first time this has happened. Last time, in 2000, it took a month before the race between George W. Bush and Al Gore was decided, a period throughout which then-PM Jean Chrétien stayed as quiet as possible. Former Chrétien advisers say Trudeau should do the same.
