Female Indigenous journalists in Canada are routinely sexually harassed and physically threatened by members of the public, the police and male Indigenous leaders as they pursue their work reporting on the news.
In interviews with 15 female Indigenous journalists, Ryerson University professor and Nieman Scholar Karyn Pugliese highlights the challenges those women encounter in their own newsrooms and as they cover protests, report on murdered and missing women, and seek to hold to account leaders in their own communities.
